Bath & Stonehenge Day Trip
Travel back in time visiting one of the world's most famous prehistoric megaliths and an ancient Roman spa town on this day trip to the World Heritage Sites of Stonehenge and Bath.
Bath & Stonehenge Day Trip Itinerary
Depart from London first thing in the morning, heading west by luxurious air-conditioned bus in the direction of Salisbury Plains, where the mysterious Stonehenge is located, and the historic city of Bath.
You'll make your first stop of the day in the UNESCO World Heritage Site that is Bath. Delve deep into the city's legendary history on a guided walking tour of its most iconic sights. You'll see Bath Abbey, first founded in the 7th century; the beautiful Georgian stone architecture of the Royal Crescent; and Pulteney Bridge, built in the 18th century and often compared to Florence's Ponte Vecchio.
The city's most important monuments, for which it has been named, are the Roman Baths. The incredibly well-preserved public bathing complex is built on the country's only natural hot springs, and its use dates back to the Roman Empire in the 1st century. Almost 2000 years later, the steaming water - said to have healing properties - is still flowing.
Following your tour of Bath, you'll head back aboard the bus for the second part of your day, a visit to Stonehenge. One of the world's most famous megalithic monuments, the standing stone circle has been there for over 5000 years, and is to this day shrouded with mystery. Who built it, and why? Discover the myths, legends and scientific theories surrounding its purpose, from a religious ritual site, to a cemetery or astronomical observatory. You'll be left speechless by the magic of the beautiful site.
After a full day of adventure exploring some of England's key historical sites, you'll return to London for around 7:30 pm.
