Different from many taxis around the world, black cabs in London can carry 5 people, as well as the driver.

Fares

There are three fares according to the different hours and days of the week:

Tariff 1

From Monday to Friday from 5 am to 8 pm.

• Minimum fare: £ 3.80 (US$ 4.70)
• 1 mile (6-13 mins journey time): £ 6.40 (US$ 8) - £ 10 (US$ 12.50)
• 2 miles (10-20 mins journey time): £ 9 (US$ 11.20) - £ 15.80 (US$ 19.70)
• 4 miles (16-30 mins journey time): £ 17 (US$ 21.20) - £ 25 (US$ 31.20)
• 6 miles (28 - 40 mins journey time): £ 26 (US$ 32.40) - £ 33 (US$ 41.20)

Tariff 2

From Monday to Friday from 8 pm to 10 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 6 am to 8 pm.

• Minimum fare: £ 3.80 (US$ 4.70)
• 1 mile (6-13 mins journey time): £ 6.40 (US$ 8) - £ 10.20 (US$ 12.70)
• 2 miles (10-20 mins journey time): £ 10.40 (US$ 13) - £ 16 (US$ 20)
• 4 miles (16 – 30 mins journey time): £ 19 (US$ 23.70) - £ 25 (US$ 31.20)
• 6 miles (28 - 40 mins journey time): £ 32 (US$ 39.90) - £ 36 (US$ 44.90)

Tariff 3

Every day from 10 pm to 6 am and bank holidays

• Minimum fare: £ 3.80 (US$ 4.70)
• 1 mile (6-13 mins journey time): £ 8 (US$ 10) - £ 11.20 (US$ 14)
• 2 miles (10-20 mins journey time): £ 11.60 (US$ 14.50) - £ 17 (US$ 21.20)
• 4 miles (16 – 30 mins journey time): £ 20 (US$ 24.90) - £ 29 (US$ 36.20)
• 6 miles (28 - 40 mins journey time): £ 33 (US$ 41.20) - £ 37 (US$ 46.20)

Additional charges

• Booking by phone or online: up to £ 2 (US$ 2.50)
• Heathrow Airport: If you get the black cab at Heathrow Airport you’ll be charged an extra £ 3.60 (US$ 4.50).
• Christmas and New Year: £ 4 (US$ 5)
